I am thankful that I can multitask........watering the lawn while entertaining the kids at the same time. Now that takes talent haha!
Who knows. Maybe it was number 1 on her check list of things to do today. But shortly after I got out of bed I look out the window and this is what see.
Now the sun was barely peeking over the mountains and here she is running through the sprinklers on a chilly morning. I guess I should say that I am grateful she was at least wearing a coat.
I was wondering how she got out there when I see that Weston is out there fixing a sprinkler. I can just imagine what she was thinking when she saw him out there....' Oh look Daddy's playing in the sprinklers! I wanna play too!'
I am thankful that it was a warm day... I didn't think that it was warm enough to get wet. But Ella begged to play in the sprinklers with Acadia after school. After about 10 minutes I found every bit of her curled up under her towel trying to get warm. Silly girl.
Being in another mood to not take pictures I didn't take my camera with me today. Turns out, I was very grateful that at least my phone had a camera on it becuase who wouldn't want to miss taking at least one picture of Garrett's birthday party! It was so fun to be able to go to one of my nephews birthdays!
All I have to say is that I am absolutely loving having more family close by.
(Now I just need to figure out a way to get everyone else out here....)
Since summer is coming to an end with the start of school on Monday, the girls and I have been making the most of our last few days.
So today I told them that it was a water day. We filled up the water table, filled up the kiddie pool for one last time, turned on a sprinkler, and made one of those water-noodle sprinklers. They spent probably about 6+ hours outside.....I sure didn't last that long.....heck, Acadia didn't last that long even with all that water out there. Now, now....Don't worry I made them stay out of the water when I went in for a break here and there. =) They ate lunch out there and played in the 'club house.' And the amazing thing is that there was ABSOLUTELY NO FIGHTING!!!! I kept wondering if there would be flying pigs too. ;)
Acadia didn't want to get out of her swimming suit even though she was inside watching a movie (I didn't think making her change was worth the fight....I am trying to choose my battles and let other things slide so I am not such a mean mommy). Well hours later when the sun is starting to set she decides to change....Now this next part shouldn't come as a surprise.....and about 10 minutes later this is what I find:
I am grateful that no one got burned.
I was working out front and I look across the street and see Acadia looking like she is debating something. I know exactly what she is thinking and so I just wait and see what she will decide to do.
I knew she couldn't resist!!!!!! Seeing the neighbors sprinklers on is just too inviting!
I think I had just as much fun watching her as she did playing in them.
I am grateful for those who smile.
I know, I know... I just couldn't decide who to post a picture of. So I just made sure to post at least 1 of each kid.
Anyway, the girls and I spent the afternoon hanging out with my brother and his family. We got to see their awesome house and neighborhood. And after chillin' for awhile we went to a free splash pad. It was a lot of fun!
Here's Garrett braving standing under a bucket of water that will pour on him at any minute.
I am grateful for summer time fun!
I know I know. I have a really hard time choosing just 1 picture to describe my day. So you will have to suffer through 4 of them.
So here is some of our adventures at Lake Tahoe. We just loafed around the house for a bit and then we decided to find some hiking trails after lunch. We didn't find any hiking trails, but we came across another little town on the edge of the lake (I can't remember what it was). It was really cute, but seemed super busy. We followed a little path down to the lake and found tons of Geese and wildflowers everywhere on the shore. It was so cool to see a field of 'wild' lupine.
I am kind of tired today so I am finding that the journaling on this just isn't really flowing very well. Sorry about that.
Anyway, we made it to a state park that said it had hiking trails and a lot of historical buildings, but we ended up just hanging out on a dock that was there and then played on the beach.
We didn't bring swim suits. And the girls promised not to get wet. =)
The girls were playing on some big rocks that were on the edge of the shore and when I got back from taking Acadia to the bathroom they were WAY out in the water.
But, this didn't come as a surprise to me. This is just what happens when you mix kids and water and a dad who was busy reading a book together.
This picture was taken after they had walked in a bit. They were so wet and ended up riding in the car in just their skimpies.
I am so grateful for all of God's creations.
Well, Acadia is turning into a water baby. Our city pool has 2 water slides and a little water 'park' play area at it.
One day during swimming lessons a little girl came up to me and said that she liked my towel. Well in the time it took her to say that and for me to say thank-you Acadia had took off....I was looking around trying to find her and some movement at the top of the water slide caught my eye.
Yup, it was Acadia and a swim lesson instructor (that happen to see her go up the stairs) that was trying to get her to come down. I couldn't believe how fast she was...we weren't sitting close to the slides. It made my heart jump to my throat! Knowing her love for water AND slides it could have turned ugly fast.
So from then on I made sure to stay FAR away from them and have been distracting her with the little water 'park' area.
I am grateful that the swimming pool lets little ones play in the water 'park' while the others are in swimming lessons.
