You know its gotta be good

Nothing better to get you excited about a package you receive than it's packaging.

And yes....there was a little dinosaur stowed away in the package that they sent me lol!

itsy bitsy

So I ran across these A-mazing snowflake photos taken by Alexey Kljatov.
He tells his method about how he does these simply stunning macro photos and I thought that I would see what I could get using one of my lenses.  Obviously I didn't have the same cool lens to use as he did, but I thought that it would be fun to try.  Heck....I didn't even really do the same set up as him,  I just held my lens up to my camera (guess you could say I was too lazy haha!).

But anyway I was surprised at the detail I was able to pick up.

Fun with Milk

A while ago I saw my sister do this fun activity with the kids she tends and since my kids were kinda bored this morning I thought we would give it a try and see what they thought.

All it takes is milk, food coloring, and dish soap.

I had no idea exactly what would happen, but we all thought that it was kinda cool!!

You could hear the kids shout things like 'Come see what color is showing now!'  or 'Wow' or ' I see an elephant in mine!'

There were questions as to why the milk did that, so we headed on to the internet to do some research.

Summer Boredom Buster

I ran across a little stash of things for the kids to do this summer that I had forgotten about.

One of the things that was in it was a mini microscope for each of them.......it is basically the same as this one and the best part is that it only cost a couple of dollars.

So I sent the kids out to see a whole new world in the backyard.

They used them on everything!

Rocks, bark, flowers, hair, feathers, water drops, chalk, the mini trampoline, their pets, dirt, bugs, and so on.

It was so fun to hear them excited about what they were seeing and to call each other over so their sisters could have a look too.

I am thankful for hands-on fun.

Does this look rotten to you?

So this what happens when you soak an egg in food coloring for a couple days and THEN
soak it in corn syrup for a couple of days.

It's for the birds

I ran across some pinecones that i had collected in the fall and decided to let the kids make some bird feeders with them.

They smeared peanut butter on it, then rolled them in birdseed for wild birds, and then found a place outside to hang them.

Backfired

Photobucket

At my in-laws Christmas party there were quite a few 'white elephant' gifts that appeared....we seemed to get most of them. So for fun we gathered everyone else's with the ones we got and I had my hubby hide them around my in-laws yard. I was hoping that they would go unnoticed until my MIL went out to do spring yard work. But that didn't happen. So today we notice that all of them had appeared in our front yard. There was even a pair of santa pants that were way up high hanging in one of our trees. Lol! I am grateful for silly jokes to each other....adds some fun to the ho-hum of everyday life.

Maybe it was more for me?

Photobucket

When I was little I always wanted one of these spin art things. My friends all seemed to have them and I loved it when I got to useit. So, before Christmas, when I saw them on sale for $6 I knew I just had to get one for my kids.....or was it more for me? ;) I must say that I am thankful that my kids had just as much fun with it as I remember having. It was hard to tell them to save some for later.

Just the 3 of us.

So the older 2 got invited to a sleep over at their Nana's house. The little one was feeling a little blue so I told her that we would go get some icecream after we dropped her sisters off. She was more than ready to get them out of the car and into Nana's house so we could get some of that yummy frozen treat.

My hubby surprised us by taking us to a mini golf course. This was a different type of course because each hole was a piece of art and each one was made by a different artist.

Some were pretty cool. One was made all out of yarn/wool. One looked like a pile of garbage (lol!). One looked like it was attack of the koala's. And so on. It was interesting to see the different things that people came up with and a nice twist on your typical mini golf course.

Photobucket

Little A did fairly well not going straight to get icecream. But she made sure to tell us that she wanted some every 10 minutes or so.
It was a typical hot summer evening and so she was thrilled (as we were walking back to our car) when I told her she could put her hands/feet in the water fountain.

Photobucket

And, of course, I am (and so are my taste buds) grateful for the delicious frozen treat that we finally got after our fun mini golf trip.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Photobucket

I thought it would be fun to celebrate Cinco de mayo. So we had our own little fiesta at dinner time.

I am thankful for diversity.
