In the name of love

Photobucket

I know a lot of mothers or expecting mothers have gone through a lot more than this.
But, today I started my P4. It is a Progesterone shot that has to be given weekly to me. My last 2 babies have been preterm and they seem to be coming earlier and earlier. So we are seeing if this shot will help me carry this one longer.... hopefully, full-term.

My 2nd child had very minor problems and I wasn't able to hold her for about an hour after delivery. My last one had a few more problems. I held her for about 30 second before they told me she was having difficulty breathing and took her away from me. She was isolated in the nursery for the next few of days hooked up to all kinds of machines that monitored her heart rate (which kept dropping) and breathing (which was irregular). While this may seem minor, it scared me to see her that way. When the time finally came to take her home, I was terrified that something would go wrong. There wasn't going to be a nurse there by her side everytime the monitor alarm went off.....heck there wasn't even going to be something to monitor her. But, I trusted my doctor and took her home and everything went well.

I really don't want to go through something like that again. So here is my little sacrifice of taking these shots (I am really not very good with needles) in hopes that it will help her to not come too soon. I am thankful that my doctor is doing what he can to help this little one 'cook' a little longer in my tummy.

So sorry! I would hate to do this...but just like you I would do it to avoid the scary complications in the end. Your my hero!

Hopefully you'll be used to it in no time.

Sorry you have to go through shots. (I hate them, too!) But just think how fortunate you are that something like this is available to help you and your little one.
