Day 237

.
Let me just start out by saying that I am thankful for enthusiasm. Today was Ashlyn's first day of soccer practice. She was SO excited all day long. After school we went and got her some cleats and a soccer ball. When we got home she got all dressed in her soccer stuff and went out back to kick the ball around before we left for practice. Ella and Acadia were out there with her kicking balls around, too. I took a few pictures then went inside to put my camera down. About a minute later Weston and I hear screaming. I open the door to find that my girls are being attacked by yellow jackets. We got them all inside, but they were still covered with them. Tons were tangled in each of their hair and still hanging on to their clothes. I ended up taking my shoe off and hitting the ones that were in their hair (hey, I thought that it was better than letting them sting them again). Ashlyn was hysterical, Acadia was confused and hurting, and Ella was hurting and feeding off Ashlyn's hysteria. They were all screaming. After we got them off of all of them we found a handful still flying in the house and disposed of them, also. We had at least a dozen dead ones lying on the floor of our kitchen. It was so scary and so sad to see! I counted at least 10 on Ashlyn (that doesn't include the stings that she got on her head...she said that she could feel 4 more stings on her head). On Ella I found 4. On Acadia I counted 4 on her body and I knew that she had at least 2 on her head too! Oh my poor girls! We watched them VERY closely and were very blessed when no one had a reaction to getting so many stings.....beside being traumatized by the whole experience. And Ashlyn was sad that she had to miss her first day of practice.

Oh, my! That's horrible. It sounds like a scene from a movie. I'm glad everyone survived.

Oh, no! How horrible! I am SO glad that no one had a reaction to the stings. Were you able to locate the nest and destroy it?

Wow. I must say that was really weird. Your comment posted at exactly the same time as mine!

I'm sorry to hear that Ashlyn missed her first soccer practice. I know she was really looking forward to it.

How scary!!!

Ashlyn sure looks cute in her soccer outfit, though.

Yikes!! :( I'm glad they didn't have reactions and you worked so fast. Oh...this just makes me shudder. Poor girls and you watching it all.

Wow! I have never heard of such an attack before! Sad they got hurt, but I am glad they are alright.
Was Ashlyn too hurt to go to practice?
