A night of traditions

After getting the idea from my sister, we started the tradition of having a sheperds dinner on Christmas eve. This will be our 3rd time doing it. E made sure to ask me once a week since Thanksgiving if we were going to have it. I am thankful that the kids are always so excited about it.

So we dressed like shepherds, ate what we thought was similar to what they ate, used napkins as plates and ate while sitting on the floor.

Then we read the story of the angel coming to tell the shepherds about baby Jesus and then the kids were off to search around the house to find the 'babe wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a manger.'

Little A had so many questions about why we were dressing that way and why we were sitting on the ground and such. I didn't realize that this is the first year that she will probably remember this tradition with how old she is.

Then came our next traditions.....reading The Night Before Christmas to the kids before leaving Eggnog and cookies for the jolly ol elf that would be visiting our house in the night.
