I find it so easy to turn on the tv as a babysitter. At first it was just in the morning so I could get ready in peace. Then without realizing it I added a second show so I could get some household chores done. And then, hey, why not another one since you have been sitting so good and quietly. Then it is lunch time and then nap time. And after nap another show until the girls get home from school.
Obviously it had gotten a little bit much. All that my kids would remember would be watching the tellie....not time spent with mom or dad. So a couple months ago I vowed to cut down. There have been quite a few fits thrown because no tv time but it is getting much easier now (note: I have a very strong willed/minded 3 year old and once she has her mind set on something it can be near impossible to change it). So yes, I still let her watch a show after the girls are at school while I get ready. And, yes, she gets to watch another one after nap. But she is learning to use her imagination again and I am being reminded how much I enjoy spending time with my kids. But I must admit that still there are somedays I do let her watch a couple shows back to back just so I can get a little more done. =/
I am thankful for remembering what I find important in life.

I have that game! I am guilty of using TV to babysit myself sometimes. I've been working on it, too. Except for Olympics.
I loved doing crafts with my kids when they were growing up. Remember the hooked yarn rugs you did on the mesh backing. And all the art projects. And friendship bracelets from embordery floss.

I have books with games-from a teacher supply store. I will gladly share, once I unpack them.
Mine were given to me, so I am not sure where they got them from. I think they must be from a church place because they seem to have a scripture reference or quote on them.
