Day 136

Weston has been working on our swamp cooler today. We bought new filters and had to replace a copper wire in it and are going to hook it to a thermostat so it will turn on/off by itself. Weston was cleaning out the swamp cooler with the hose (like he has done every year) and I am in the house with Acadia.....can you guess what's going to happen next? Well, I hear Acadia screaming bloody murder and this is what I find...
Sorry the picture is blurry, but you get the idea. She happened to be standing under the swamp cooler blower thing when water came pouring down out of it! She was dripping with muddy, dirty water!

Poor little thing! But after she calmed down, it made me laugh (except I stopped laughing when I saw the mud splattered walls and the totally soaked floor in the hallway)! What a mess! But I am still grateful for having something to cool my house in the hot summer....even if it is a swamp cooler.

Doesn't sound like fun mess to clean up. I should probably get the air conditioner check and cleaned beofre it gets really hot.

What is a swamp cooler?

Awwww! Poor thing and such a cute outfit!

Sorry Charlene, but that cracked me up! I forget people in humid climates may think that sounds verrrry strange!

I asked the same thing the first time I heard of one! It is a cheap version of an air conditioner and it does not work well when it is humid out...that is why there are none in FL. It is like a big fan vent thing that blows cool air into your house.

And it uses water so it humidifies as well as cools.

What a mess! Poor little girl. I am grateful for our swamp cooler in our very dry and hot climate. When it is humid out, that's when the ceiling fan comes in handy.

Why is it called a "swamp" cooler? That sounds very red-neck to me.
