A Snow Cone of sorts

Can you guess what this little one discovered today?

 photo 2014_02_04_zpsbe99e724.jpg

She discovered that you can eat snow.

So, she ate it...

And ate it.

And ate some more.

I am thankful that the snow was from a storm that fell when the air was clean.....none of that gross inversion stuff in this white fluff today.

 photo 2013_03_25_zps2ce97c0d.jpg

Dang spring weather.

Woohoo!

 photo 2013_02_21_zpscb295444.jpg

I am grateful for free snowboarding tickets!

It has been at least 12 years since I have gone and I was a little hesitant to go, but I am so glad that I did!

It was so fun!  Even the parts where I almost did make it onto the seat of the chair lift....I was 1/2 on 1/2 off it (the metal arm rest didn't feel too good giving me a wedgie lol). And the first time I got off the chair lift and fell so so so hard (that was the only time I hurt myself the whole time)
But we had ourselves a good laugh and a great time together!

Brave little chicken

My chickens decided to brave the snow today.

But all the did was pretty much follow the path we made to the back door and stayed there.

I decided to put them back in after they had been out for a while and one of them didn't follow me back to the chicken run on the path so she decided to fly to it.

Now chickens aren't the best fliers and this little lady flew into a snow bank and, since the snow is so nice and soft and fluffy, she sank and the more she tried to get out the more she got stuck.  Poor girl, but I couldn't help but chuckle at her.

I am grateful that they have been handling the cold and snow just fine.

Burr!

Weston has been wanting to build a snow cave ALL winter.....so after this storm hit he got the girls excited to help him make one.

I was so so nervous that it would collapse on one of them!! (which thankfully it didn't)

Photobucket

I am thankful that I am actually loving the way the whole neighborhood is coated in white fluffy stuff.

This snow has been SO light and fluffy.

A whole lot of white stuff.

We got a TON of snow over the last couple of days.

In fact, we got experience our first snow day yesterday....yes they actually canceled school!  I think I was more excited about it than the kids were. =)

Somewhere under that mound of snow is our back porch steps.

And here is Ella trying to get through the snow so she can sled down the hill in the backyard.

That is about as far as she made it before she gave up.

The snow was going down her boots and her feet were kinda turning into popsicles.

I am grateful that the power didn't go out during the storm.

Lots of the white stuff

Yesterday during Acadia's party it snowed and snowed and snowed.

I am grateful for how beautiful it was when the sun peeked out from the clouds today....

......and for my beautiful little E!

Finally

Finally!
At least that is what the kids were saying this morning when they woke up to a bunch of snow.

So we jumped into our snow clothes and spent the morning sledding in the front yard.

I am grateful that we have a hill in our front yard to sled down.

Do as I'm Doing

Photobucket

I am grateful for my oldest showing my youngest some new things to do in the snow.....like sledding! My Baby Rootbeer took Little A sledding for her first time. Little A was a little nervous at first but Baby Rootbeer did a good job of making sure they didn't go too fast. It was fun to watch (from my nice warm kitchen) this little bonding time the 2 of them had together.

Can you guess?

Can you guess why I found her all bundled up in the bathroom laying in front of the heater vent today?

Photobucket

It was the day that she decided to go out in the snow.....but without her coat, socks, or shoes on.
I looked out the window and saw her laying like that in the snow making a snow angel, so I grabbed my camera and ran outside. I asked her 'What ya doin?' She sat up. Looked at me. And then started crying and said 'It's SO told!'
And, being the mean mommy that I am, I hurried and snapped a picture of her sitting there crying before I grabbed her and got her into the warm house.
Hmmm. Maybe she will FINALLY learn why we dress warm when we go out in the snow?

Photobucket

I am grateful for warm blankets and heater vents.

Catching on.

Photobucket

There are 2 things that I am grateful for in this picture..... 1. She is giving me a nice smile! and 2. I think she is starting to catch on to the whole 'wear snowboots when in the snow' thing (even though those are mine). Now just to get her in the habit of having a coat on when going outside.

A spot of sunshine.

The snow decided to let up and the sun peeked out from the clouds everyonce in a while this morning. So one of the times when the sun came out, I dashed outside to get a picture of something covered in snow.

Photobucket

And while I was out for those few minutes up to almost my knees in snow....I hear 'oh oh oh!'
I turn around and see Little A is wearing my gardening clogs trying to get to where I am in the snow. She realized that they weren't working and just took them off and walked back to the house barefoot saying 'I tink I want sum hot chocolate.'

I think she learned the hard way that these shoes are not made for walking in snow.

Photobucket

I am grateful for the fresh clean air after a snow storm.

More of the white stuff

Photobucket

It was chilly out but the kids still wanted to play in the snow. Even with 2 coats on Little A didn't last very long.....but I expected that today.
I am thankful for a fireplace.

Shiver

Photobucket

So the snow came and little A was just thrilled to see it all over everything outside. I left the room for a second and when I came back in she was out back running around and around in it in her bare feet and with out a coat on. What a nut. Makes me cold just to think about it.

I am thankful that at least she is excited about that cold wet white stuff.

Just in time for Spring Break.

Photobucket

We got that snow storm just in time for the start of spring break for the kids. =/

So since I wanted them to have a little bit of fun for thier break, we filled water bottles and squirt gun things up with colored water and they got to paint the snow (I think I saw this idea in the family fun magazine a while ago).

I am thankful that they just loved it and it entertained them for a few hours.

Snowball!!!

I needed a major stress reliever before the pictures this afternoon. I am thankful for the distraction I had by having everyone go out and play in the snow......which has been coming down like crazy for the past couple of days. It turned into a big snowball fight! And my mom was such a good sport about those girls getting her. She got them pretty good too!
Oh and there is some music to it...so just turn off/pause the music player at the bottom of the page if ya want to hear it.

The fun of new snow boots

Photobucket

There was still some snow left on the ground and so Acadia and I went out to explore. She had gotten new snow boots and was so fascinated with watching her feet as she tromped around. I think she went around the whole yard 4 or 5 times walking in every pile she came to before she got bored with it. Then we hit the bubbles and I think it was the first time that she was successful at blowing them on her own. Go Acadia!! lol!

I am thankful for things that my kids feel proud of.

A day of snow.

Ella and Ashlyn couldn't pass up playing in the snow. They seemed to be having SO much fun making snow angels, throwing snowballs, and sledding. At one point they ditched the sled and opted for sliding down on their knees, back, or tummy. I wish I recorded the laughter and squeals that could be heard from them.

Photobucket

I am grateful for fun that requires no batteries.
