The cone of shame.

So, remember that picture of Buddy with the drainage tubes in his side?

Well he had them removed and he seemed to be doing well for a while.

Then I noticed that the 'hole' on the inside of his leg/belly was kinda gross looking so I took him in to the vet.

They had to drain it again and add another drainage tube.

A week late it still didn't seem to be healing right and they were toying with the idea that he might have feline lukiemia or feline AIDS.  =(

So they sewed most of the gaping hole shut and left a little part open so it could still drain AND they had to put the cone of shame on him so he wouldn't be tempted to lick it.

He is not a very happy kitty.

But I am grateful that it did NOT turn out to be anything life threatening.  It just happened that he wouldn't leave the sores alone so they could heal properly...but the cone of shame solved that problem.
