I have had this thought enter my head over and over that I needed to send a family a package for Christmas. I told my kids who we were sending it to and why I thought we should send them one. They were so excited. Then I added that I thought that we could take a small amount of money that we would have spent on presents for ourselves and put it towards presents for them instead. It wouldn't mean that there would be no presents to open for us....and it really wasn't much that we were going to spend on them. But, when my kids heard that, it was so sad. Their smiles dropped off their faces as they comprehended what I just said. It made me think 'have I raise a bunch of selfish kids?' So we talked a little bit about all that we have been blessed with and how there are so many people out there with less than us.
I am grateful that our small chat about being charitable brought back the smiles and excitement of sending the package.

What a great lesson.
Your a great example! And a great mother!
Hooray for promptings... and listening to them.
That's what it takes, just listening to the prompt than following through with it!
